Warlord: Awaji XP & Leveling Guide

Verified for Pre-release Instant Action playtest · 2026-09-08
XP is the bridge between combat and progression in the playtest. Defeating enemies awards XP, levels raise your character, and higher levels open additional equipment choices. Post-battle actions can also award XP in observed builds, but exact values and full-release unlock levels are not stable enough to publish as a permanent table yet.

Confirmed XP loop

The game tutorial explicitly connects four steps:

Defeat enemies → earn XP → gain levels → unlock more equipment options.

That is the progression loop you can trust from the playtest. The exact level-by-level reward table is still a release-day research item.

What awards XP

Confirmed or repeatedly observed sources include:

The last two are best treated as playtest observations, not universal campaign advice until the release build confirms how honor, surrender and post-battle systems interact.

Should you farm XP instead of playing the objective?

No. In Instant Action, a selfish XP route can work against the actual win condition. A player roaming for bodies while the other side holds the flags can turn a won skirmish into a lost match.

Use normal battle participation as the default XP source. Treat post-battle XP as a bonus after the strategic objective is secure.

When to check for new gear

After leveling, return to the equipment/customization menu and check what changed. Do not rely on an old fixed unlock list from the playtest: multiple videos show players guessing about future unlocks, especially Retainers, without a reliable official level requirement.

For that distinction, use How to Unlock Equipment and Retainers: What We Know.
