Warlord: Awaji Campaign: Everything Confirmed So Far

Verified for Pre-release Steam listing + developer interviews · 2026-09-08
Official sources describe Warlord: Awaji as an open-world first-person strategy campaign built around conquering Awaji, leading a retinue, moving a war camp, taking villages and forts, interacting with shrines and dynamic forces, and organizing melee, ranged and cavalry groups. Exact economy values, recruitment costs and settlement-by-settlement routes still need release verification.

Open world and conquest

The current Steam listing describes a sprawling open world based on real Awaji heightmap data. The campaign loop includes leading an army, constructing a camp, conquering villages and forts, and disrupting dynamic enemy forces.

The store also describes civilian convoys and roaming warrior bands moving through the world in real time, with local powers reacting to the player's actions.

Shrines and spiritual pressure

Official copy says rival shrines can be captured to improve your spiritual aura while harming the enemy's. It also mentions esoteric warrior monks, curses and coalition attacks.

Those are strong future guide topics, but we will not publish exact shrine bonuses, curse values or monk locations until the release build provides them.

Army organization

The store describes a retinue of individually named warriors who gain experience over time. Leaders can be promoted, army capacity can expand through conquered land, and battle formations can be organized through a drag-and-drop interface.

Melee, ranged and cavalry groups are all explicitly mentioned in the current official description.

Mobile camp

The campaign camp is described as relocatable rather than a permanent castle-building game. The current listing mentions tents, rest, sleep, sustenance, screens, fences and night guards, with the option to pack up and move.

This matches the developer's earlier interview framing: the warband is meant to stay mobile.

Still waiting for release verification

We are deliberately not publishing:

Those are the first items to verify once the release build is live.
